Today, the region is heading into a power deficit that will make it difficult to connect new power-intensive industry, develop existing production and carry out the green transition.

Our hypothesis is that jobs are the prerequisite for a vibrant region, and that good access to power will lead to us both retaining and increasing the number of jobs.

In order to create a Kongsvinger region that is good to live in, for the next generations, we must at the same time meet the changes in power demand within nature's tolerance limit.

Good access to power

A collaborative project is now starting with participants from the municipalities, industry, energy, power grids, nature, environment and climate - where we will explore together: What opportunities arise when we have to ensure good access to power for industry, low electricity prices for people and as little interference with nature as possible?

The aim of the project is a common one power strategy for the six municipalities in the Kongsvinger regionStrategies will help us define the need for power and manage the development of renewable energy and other measures so that we ensure a region that is good to live in.

Our problem:

What opportunities arise when we have to ensure good access to power for industry, low electricity prices for people and as little interference with nature as possible?

What is the power challenge?

From challenge to joint power strategy

A common target picture

In autumn 2023, Klosser Innovation was commissioned on behalf of the Kongsvinger region to investigate the power situation in our region. The aim was to map the challenges we face and the opportunities we have going forward.

The municipalities in the Kongsvinger region are working together to create a power strategy that helps us understand the need for energy and manage development so that we ensure a region that is good to live in. To do this, we must work holistically and based on knowledge.

Before we start talking about solutions - we must first agree on where we are going. What future do we really want for the Kongsvinger region, and what will it take to create it? It was the starting point for the first workshop in the power challenge.

New challenges require new solutions

From creative thoughts to realistic action

We must train the ability to see things in new ways and make connections between seemingly disparate concepts to create valuable ideas. Creativity is the superpower we need to achieve the region's goals, and the starting point for collection 2 in the Power Challenge.

The key to a strategy that works is that we both set goals that we can reach for, while at the same time not trying to do more than we have the resources for. Collection 3 in energy strategy is about prioritising: what should we take with us further and what should we put aside.

The Kongsvinger region needs a knowledge-based decision-making basis that shows the connection between our needs for jobs, the opportunity to live a good life in the region, natural diversity and energy.

Films - The power challenge/energy strategy

Thursday 31. In October, the chairmen met to get to know the results so far, and join the knowledge journey. The aim of the meeting was to gain a deeper understanding of energy, the energy system and how we can balance industrial growth with regard to nature and climate.

In order to retain and create jobs in the region, industry and business need more power for growth and a green transition.

How can we ensure enough power for the Kongsvinger region, with as little interference with nature as possible?

Here we have collected films around relevant topics, and recordings of open public meetings.
