A leading position in Norway in the circular economy

The Kongsvinger region has since 2019 purposefully worked with circular economy as a tool to achieve the overall goals in Paris agreement  og UN Sustainability Goals. Especially the four major projects / collaborations described below, have given results and made an impression nationally and internationally.

Circular economy as a green transition engine

This is a further extension of the project «Circle Scan Kongsvinger Region». The pilots are a splice team between the municipalities, business and the County Governor of Innlandet. Start-up in March 2021.

Pilot 1: KONGSIRK - inter-municipal re-use market.
Pilot 2: Donor building. Demolition waste as a resource.
Pilot 3: Toolbox circular procurements. Six municipalities, six examples.

Circle Scan Kongsvinger Region

With support from the county Governor of Innlandet, the region has carried out a circular analysis / feasibility study within the value chain of the construction industry. The overall goal has been green restructuring by reducing / moving waste upwards in the waste hierarchy and thereby creating new jobs. Circle Economy and Circular Norway have been responsible for the method and implementation. The project has been completed with proposals for continuation in three specific pilot projects.

O-house

O-house (circle house) is a prototype of an establishment home where at least 50% of the building material is based on either recycled or reuse of material. Other building materials must have the lowest possible climate footprint and the building must be energy-smart. The prototype is on a smaller scale, but has the necessary functions such as a toilet, bathroom and kitchenette / living room. The project is a collaboration between Skarnes high school, Topos Arkitektur, GIR and various local players in the construction industry. The goal is to find a template for scaling. The prototype is in the construction phase.

Circular Solør

The biological resource flows in Solør (Grue, Åsnes, Våler) have been mapped with the aim of clarifying the value creation and climate potential these flows constitute. The analysis has identified which circular innovations are relevant and which social and business actors can benefit from closer cooperation.

The work will be continued in 2021.
